About us

We are the first Episcopal congregation established in Central Pennsylvania, a congregation of friends supporting one another and sharing our pilgrimage of faith.

Priest-in-Charge

The Reverend Canon Mark A. Scheneman

After retiring from full-time ministry in 2015, “Father Mark” was called as part-time Priest-in-Charge of Bangor Church.  He is a graduate of Moravian College and holds Masters degrees from the General Theological Seminary and Temple University.  His Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Ministry was granted by the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served at several parishes in the Philadelphia area before being called to serve as the Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where he spent 28 years.

Fr. Mark has served on numerous diocesan committees and represented the diocese at several General Conventions.  He combined his interest in history and in music by learning to play the Highland bagpipes and becoming involved in 18th reenacting.  For many years, he was an avid road bicyclist.

He is also on the faculty of the Stevenson School for Ministry; teaching courses in Church History, Parish Management, and Celtic Spirituality. Mark and his wife, Dottie, have three adult children – Katherine married to Jeff, Elisabeth married to Daniel, and Peter married to Mary, as well as five grandchildren – Michael, Mary, Alice, William, and Fletcher.
